Eduroam Authentication Certificate Change

Scheduled Maintenance: Wednesday, July 13, Noon

Services Impacted: Wireless authentication

As part of annual maintenance, the security certificate used in Eduroam authentication will change tomorrow. Though most device types handle the change automatically, some IOS or MacOS systems may need to have action taken to reconnect. If your device does not automatically reconnect to the Eduroam network after this work, try manually reconnecting to the network; you should then be prompted to accept the new certificate.

Holt & AJH Network Maintenance

As part of the Physical Science building demolition, underground fiber optic cables serving that area of campus need to be relocated to a new facility. This multi-phase project is being staged to minimize campus network impact, but affected buildings will experience downtime at some point during the migration.

Building cutovers have been scheduled for weekends during intersession to try and minimize impact as much as possible. Service interruptions will occur between 8AM and 8PM, possibly for the entire duration of the maintenance window:

1/15/22 — Holt – all wired/wireless networks, campus telephones

1/16/22 — Aymer J. Hamilton, Gateway Science Museum — all wired/wireless networks, campus telephones

Blue light emergency phones and cellular service will not be affected by these operations.

Eduroam Wireless Change

Beginning at noon today (Tuesday August 3rd) campus Eduroam wireless will be reconfigured to provide a quicker and easier setup. For most devices you will be able to connect directly to Eduroam for setup and when prompted, log in with your email address (not just your username) and password. Client installation will no longer be necessary.

Existing campus Eduroam wireless configurations will stop working once this change is implemented. Wireless devices will need to use the new, simpler setup to get reconnected to campus wireless. The Eduroam Wireless documentation has been updated with instructions for the new setup.

Wireless Network Update

Scheduled Change: Wednesday, July 24th 9:00 AM
Services Impacted: Campus Wireless

To ensure a secure campus wireless environment, devices that were configured more than a year ago need to be updated with the current network protocol.

We sent direct emails to those that we identified as using the older wireless protocol. If you are unsure if your device is configured correctly, you may re-run the Eduroam setup from your wireless device now by going to https://www.csuchico.edu/eduroam. Click on the “Join Now” button and follow the prompts.

Your wireless access may be interrupted on July 24th if your wireless configuration is not current.
